Inclusion

Alkira has a strong and vibrant Inclusion department that celebrates diversity and is committed to supporting the achievement and participation of all students regardless of their abilities.  Alkira acknowledges that some students have intersecting identities or additional needs that our school community need to take into consideration. 

Alkira prides itself on delivering programs to support the learning of all our students with dedicated resources made readily available to students with differing needs.  Our school also offers an extensive transition program for new students at a year 6/7 level and in any other year level where a student moves from another school and who identifies as having additional needs.

Our skilled Inclusion team have expertise in a multitude of different abilities such as:

• Autism Spectrum, Asperger’s
• ADHD, ADD, ODD
• Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia
• Intellectual disability
• Auditory Processing Disorder
• Hearing/Vision Impairment
• Physical Disabilities
• Genetic conditions

Students with additional needs will receive supports through a myriad of channels, each dedicated the individual such as:

• Inclusion Aide support in the classroom
• Intervention programs designed for the individual
• Strength-based functional needs assessments
• Student Support Group meetings
• Access to assessments
• Dedicated leaders skilled to meet the needs of students with additional needs
• Allied Health Programs both in school and off site.
• NDIS support
• Dedicated careers/pathways support
• Facilities to support students with additional needs
• Peer support
• Lunch time activities
• Incursions/excursions
